Walnut, Los Angeles County
Walnut takes its name from Rancho Los Nogales, Spanish for the walnut trees that grew along its creeks, and it incorporated in 1959. Mt. San Antonio College, opened in 1946 on the grounds of a wartime Navy hospital, is known for its track and field meet, the Mt. SAC Relays, held since 1959.
